The Bourne Legacy
PG-13
Starring: Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton and Oscar Issac
Running Time: 2 Hours and 15 Minutes
This is a spin-off of the super-popular Bourne series by Robert Ludlum. Beginning with Bourne Identity in 2002, followed with The Bourne Supremacy and then The Bourne Ultimatum. Matt Damon starred as Jason Bourne in this very popular movie series.
Remembering back to the original movies, Jason Bourne had amnesia and could not recall his past.
This movie begins with Jeremy Renner starring as Aaron Cross who finds out that the situation he is in is a result of all of the events of the three previous movies. His memory is intact and he has been given two kinds of medicines that have both mentally and physically altered him by operatives in the Outcome project. He finds himself in many precarious situations where he is literally fighting for his life and his world is turned upside down.
He is very capable and independent. He is surprised to find out the medicines he has been taking have been altering him.
When he runs out of his medicines, he needs to find the doctor who has been administering them to him. Dr. Marta Shearing (Rached Weisz) is the doctor that was assigned to him. She has been going through her own trauma with the Outcome project. She is about to leave and go stay with her sister when she encounters Aaron Cross. He hunts her down in desperate need of more medicine. When he finds her at her beautiful country home which is under renovation, she is under siege with some operatives and fighting for her life. Cross rescues her and then they become fugitives and are on the run. They go to the Philippines where the drugs are manufactured. There they encounter even more action sequences and hostility and they become wanted by just about everyone.
I really enjoyed this movie. It kept my interest and the action scenes were good. There is a motorcycle chase scene that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Jeremy Renner was really good as Aaron Cross. He is believable as Cross and has great appeal as a hero.
Rachel Weisz was superb as Dr. Shearing. She was perfect as this character.
Parents be advised, this movie definitely has spy-action violence and suspense. Also some wild-animal violence, strong language and a sexual situation. I would recommend this movie for children ages fourteen and over.
I am giving "The Bourne Legacy" three bags of popcorn!
