PG-13
Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman,Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Eccleston, Rene Russo and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Running Time: 2 Hours
Thor: The Dark World is the sequel to "Thor" the original movie released in 2011. So for myself, this was the perfect scenario in which to screen a super-hero movie. 3-D, D-Box theater (which is, if your not familiar with it, a motion activated seat that moves with the action and sound of the movie). It was the perfect situation for not only a great movie, but a genuinely fun movie! As always, when there is a super-hero movie you know that there will be the bad guys vs the good guys but you never know how it will play out in the long-run. This one really works, it was just pure fun entertainment!
The powerful Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor, the
hammer-wielding God of Thunder and Lord of Asgard.
Hemsworth is so good in this role that I believe that he will always be known as the super-hero in the eyes of the world.
When the ancient dark forces of evil descend upon the world, most noticeably, London and the Nine realms, Thor battles to save the Universe and all the inhabitants therein. The diabolical and evil leader Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) of the Dark Elves is as maligned and sinister as they come! Bringing disaster and heartache to all they encounter!
The infamous Loki (Tom Hiddleston) Thor's envious brother (or half-brother) makes an appearance and does not disappoint! Hiddleston is excellent in the role of the evil and very jealous brother. They team up to defend and save everyone from the Dark Elves but does Thor ever really trust Loki or can he trust Loki?
Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is a young scientist who gets caught up in all of the commotion and becomes Thor's love interest. I really enjoyed the chemistry between them.
Thor: The Dark World is just a really fun and entertaining escape movie. If you enjoyed the original I believe you will really enjoy The Dark World!
Parents be advised, it is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action, some really evil and intimidating characters and scary situations. I think children ages 12-13 and up would be fine with this movie.
I am giving "Thor: The Dark World" four bags of popcorn.

Ender's Game
PG-13
Starring: Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Viola Davis, Ben Kingsley, Abigail Breslin and Hailee Steinfield.
1 Hour and 54 Minutes
This is a dynamic set in the future movie centered around a young man named Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield). Fifty years ago the earth was attacked by an alien race known as the Formics. Fearful that they might attack again, the International Fleet is looking to find a replacement for their legendary hero, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley) who had saved the earth from the attack by the Formics.
Ender is being watched and then recruited by the International Fleet because of his intelligence, resolve and his amazing abilities. Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) has been watching him and chooses him above the other students to be pulled out of his school and his home to be sent away to the legendary Battle School located somewhere in earth's orbit on a space station. There he becomes a part of a team where they train and battle other teams to see who is the best both mentally and physically and who has the best battle skills. He trains with the other students where he encounters ridicule and jealousy to the point of being belittled and bullied. He does not let that stop him, he is committed to doing his very best and he continues to train and study for the war games. Little by little he starts to gain the respect of his peers and excels to the point of being advanced to a more highly skilled team. He continues to focus and get better and more sophisticated with his skills.
He finds himself getting homesick and missing his family, especially his sister Valentine (Abigail Breslin) when they cut off his emails from home, he decides to quit and go home. When he arrives back home, Valentine confronts him and convinces him to go back and finish his training so that he has no regrets.
When he returns, he is sent to Command School where he is personally coached and trained by the one and only Mazer Rackham. He is commissioned to be the leader of a new team where they find themselves fighting an extreme simulation battle!
The movie is based on the book "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card. I found this movie to be entertaining and very interesting. I thought it was a very good story and I enjoyed it a lot. I loved how Ender was so determined and how he would never give up. It was also refreshing that there was no swearing or any suggestive scenes.
Parents be advised, it is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action and some disturbing situations where a monitoring device is removed from Enders neck and also a couple of intense fighting scenes.
I am giving "Ender's Game" three and a half bags of popcorn.
