PG-13
Starring: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Jermaine Clement and Emma Thompson
Running Time: 1 Hour and 46 Minutes
Here come back the Men in Black. This is the return of the famous agents "J" (Will Smith) and "K"(Tommy Lee Jones), the alien hunters, protecting the earth from the scum of the universe from the earlier movies from 1997 and 2002.
This movie is not quite as good as the first MIB but a lot better than MIB 2.
This movie goes back in time over 40 years to 1969, where they try and unlock the secrets of the universe.
The evil alien "Boris the Animal" (Jermaine Clement) escapes from alien prison located on the moon, where he comes back to the earth to retaliate against agent K. Boris was very mean and ruthless and would do whatever it took to seek his revenge!
This movie was really a lot of fun. Will Smith nailed it again as agent J. He was smooth and cool and delivered his character flawlessly. Tommy Lee Jones was great as K, he was still the gruff and emotionless guy he always was before. The new guy on the block, Josh Brolin played the younger agent K from forty years earlier, he did an outstanding job portraying K. He perfected all of his moves and habits and he really did resemble him as well.
I enjoyed the feel of the movie and all of the things that took place in 1969. It felt just like you really had gone right back in time to 1969. They had an Andy Warhol scene that was also fun and entertaining.
The story was good and somewhat sentimental. The aliens were fun and still as freaky as they were before, there is no limit to their imagination when it comes to aliens!
I found this movie to be a fun escape movie that I think everyone will enjoy. Parents be advised that there are aliens that are intimidating and some are scary, but some are funny and have cute personalities.
The ending was really touching and sentimental and brought all the movies together.
It is rated PG-13 for Sci-fi violence and weapons, I think middle-aged school children and older should be fine with this movie.
I am giving "MIB3" three bags of popcorn!

Battleship
PG-13
Starring: Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano, Gregory Gadson and Liam Neeson
Running Time: 2 Hours and 11 Minutes
I had no idea what to expect from this movie beings it was based on the real naval combat "Battleship" game by the toy company Hasbro.
The movie takes place in Oahu, Hawaii, more specifically Pearl Harbor. It is about the young Lieutenant, Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch) who is perpetually getting into trouble.
He falls in love at first sight with the Admirals beautiful daughter Samantha Shane (Brooklyn Decker) and he is too nervous and unable to bring himself to ask the Admiral for his daughter's hand in marriage.
While out at sea with a fleet of Navy ships during war games exercises, suddenly they are confronted with an unknown force! After a very intense battle ensues and losing senior officers, the young Lieutenant Hopper is faced with the daunting task of being made the Captain and making all of the tough decisions.
While the battle becomes bigger and bigger, the planet earth is being assaulted to the likes of which no one had ever seen before! Attacking on the sea, the land and also by air, it seems as if there is no way to stop this alien force which is determined to show its authority!
I found this movie to be very intense and really enjoyable. This movie really brought you into the action and they also incorporated a sense of patriotism and loyalty as well.
One of the the characters, Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales (Gregory Gadson) actually fought valiantly in Iraq in 2007 where he lost both of his legs and severely injured his arm during an IED attack. He was a real hero in the movie!
Even though this story was predicable, I really enjoyed it! It was the kind of story that just makes you feel good and makes you proud to be an American! I loved the fact that they focused on what is right with America and used some of our "real heroes"!!!
I would highly recommend this movie, but parents be advised that the alien creatures are very scary and intimidating, children will have a hard time with these beings.
Also, the weapons and artillery that the aliens use are very destructive and scare the heck out of you!
The PG-13 rating is a good guideline, however even some young people older than 13 might still be intimidated by this movie.

Dark Shadows
PG-13
Starring: Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green and Alice Cooper
Running Time: 1 Hour and 53 Minutes
This is the movie that is directed by Tim Burton and pairs he and Johnny Depp together again for a Gothic reprisal of the 1960's TV Soap Opera, "Dark Shadows".
I am going to date myself by admitting that I WAS a die-hard "Dark Shadows" fan back when it aired on TV. It has been so many years since the TV version aired that it was hard to remember the details of the earlier soap opera.
I was really excited to see the Tim Burton version and Johnny Depp was a lot of fun as the resurrected "Barnabas Collins". Even though this is considered a horror film I found it to be more of a comedy and a fun escape movie. It follows loosely along with the original series with the Collins family re-locating to Collinsport, Maine from England with their son, Barnabas Collins.
Barnabas meets a young witch named "Angelique Bouchard", who falls desperately in love with him and he is already in love with another young lady named "Josette DuPres". After numerous times of trying every way she can to steal his affection, including an acrobatic love-making scene. Angelique becomes extremely frustrated and casts a spell on him and turns him into a Vampire! She then locks him up in a coffin for eternity, until he is released two hundred years later when construction workers at a construction site dig up his grave! Then all pandemonium begins!
This is just a fun spin-off of the original series albeit Tim Burton/Johnny Depp style. For the real "Dark Shadows" die-hards, this is not going to be exactly as they had hoped. It is definitely a 2012 style versus the 1966 version.
Parents be advised this is PG-13 for a lot of sexuality, and some profanity. I would recommend it for the fourteen and older crowd.

The Avengers
PG-13
Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Running Time: 2 Hours and 22 Minutes
This is the highly anticipated movie that all of the people who follow: Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, The Black Widow, Thor and the evil Loki from the movies and the comic book series have been dying to see!
This movie did not disappoint! It totally lived up to all of the hype that surrounded it!
It pits the good against the bad, and how the great superheroes combine and pull together to thwart off the very evil Loki and the alien invasion!
The superheroes were so much fun and it was great to see their individual personalities shine through and how well the chemistry worked between them when they came together as a force to overcome all of the evil!
Robert Downey Jr. reprised his roll as the always entertaining "Iron Man", Chris Hemsworth returned as "Thor", Mark Ruffalo was awesome as "The Hulk", Chris Evans returns as "Captain America" and Scalett Johansson stars as "The Black Widow". On the other hand you have Tom Hiddleston who did an outstanding job portraying the King of evil as "Loki"!
This movie falls into the action/adventure category and there was a ton of action and great special effects that kept you on the edge of your seat.
This movie receives its PG-13 rating for the extreme action and some sequences that were quite intense from the mean, cruel and heartless Loki! Parents be advised that some scenes might be too intense for younger children.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and found it to be very entertaining.
